Dave (Torgie) Torgersen is itching to get a woodworking group going again at Spirit of Hope. That’s Torgie working with a crew from his church group in Minnesota. At that time they gathered in his garage, which is still complete with all the tools albeit in his Sunland Springs Village home, and this fall he is offering his garage for interested members.
Torgie sees it as a way to enjoy his personal hobby, share with other members, and spend time in a Christian environment, where the group will be making items of their choice as well as the White Dove Crosses and Baptism Boxes. The Baptism Box will include a Bible and blanket and is given to the parents for safekeeping on Baptism Day. The White Dove Cross is given out to new members as they are welcomed into the church.
In truth, Torgie needs help with the project so we can continue providing these gifts from the Church to commemorate these important events. Other members may be doing these projects separately and he invites them to the group to complete projects together. For variety in the meeting, he will have people demonstrating different woodworking techniques, and he has reminded us that NO EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED!
Check out these photos and consider if you might see yourself in them. Are you ready to upgrade your woodworking skills? Socialize? Get to know members with a common interest? Help to sustain a Spirit of Hope tradition? Contact Dave at (480) 219-9343.
