“We are a conduit to the Lord,” says Dave Stumo, Spirit of Hope Choir Director. And with their first performance last Sunday, they began their mission of leading the congregation in song. “We will sing the melody, not parts,” Stumo said, “with the thought that all of us, including the congregation, are here to praise him! So our big job is to get the congregation to join us.”
The choir held their first practice on Friday November 11th, which was their first chance to get to know each other, leader and choir. The photo shown in this post was taken after the practice, Stumo standing in the rear, smiley faces all around. “Lots of air!” and “Words right here – at the front of the mouth!” were among his coaching cries. And afterwards, he was pleased with the results and the promise.
“But we sure could use more bodies,” he said. “Maybe two sopranos, two altos, two tenors, and two basses!” Practice is scheduled from 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. every Friday. Just show up!
