God’s Work, Our Hands. weekend is an opportunity to celebrate who we are as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America – one church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor. This year's events are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, September 10 - 11, 2016, three on Saturday and others on Sunday.
Spirit Of Hope will be teaming up with Spirit Of Joy in Gilbert and Our Saviors of East Mesa, with several options for you to pitch in to be part of these ELCA days of service. Saturday’s work will include clean up at Sunshine Acres, sorting donations at CAAFA, and packing food at United Food Bank. On Sunday we’ll be at Our Saviors, packing Hope Totes for Grace Lutheran in downtown Phoenix to support the homeless they serve, and partaking in a prayer service for local public servants and Veterans. All First Responders and Veterans are invited for the event.
We’ll be accepting cash donations to purchase supplies for the Hope Totes. Please use the gold envelopes on the Welcome Desk in the Narthex for your donation. Please make those donations by September 4, 2016.
Shirts to identify us as part of the ELCA Community will be available for $8 the last weekend in August and first weekend in September. Contact Tina Gilson, with questions at tinag963@yahoo.com for more details, and please mark your calendar to be ready to serve!
