Special thanks to Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest for allowing us to share this story with you.
When Mason was one day-old he was abandoned at the hospital.
We really didn't know much about him, except that his tiny body trembled from methamphetamine exposure, and that his mom had simply walked away, without signing any official paperwork.
Lutheran Social Services (LSS) Family Homes foster parents, Ashley and Victor, immediately took him into their family, not knowing what his future would hold. Maybe he would have further medical complications. Maybe his biological parents would decide to look for him.
"Ashley never gave up on Mason," says LSS Licensing Specialist Amber. "She is a relentless advocate for all of the kids that she fosters."
In John 14 Jesus says "If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, to be with you forever...I will not leave you orphaned; I am coming to you."
As Ashley and Victor have advocated for Mason (and adopted him earlier this month) God uses you to be an advocate for the lost, the last, and the least.
May is National Foster Care Awareness Month. There are thousands of children like Mason in Arizona who are waiting for you to be their Advocate. As many of our foster parents tell us – they will probably give you more than you give them.
