Outreach Programs:
Our church partners with Lutheran Social Ministry in serving needy families with a food
shelf, rental assistance and Circle of Friends.
Many of our members
volunteer at the East Valley Lutheran Thrift Store, which provides
means with which to do evangelism in our area.
Spirit of Hope has packed sack lunches for the homeless as part of Grace Lutheran Church's "Heat Respite" Program. During the summer of 2011, SOH friends, volunteers and members packed a total of 1,350 sack lunches. (see below). The program was coordinated by Wendy Sontag and the Thursday morning "Seniors Rock" group.
Hunger Jar
Our Hunger Jar offerings helped fund the above mentioned project, as well as buying supplies for pancake breakfasts served to the homeless. Disaster relief for victims of earthquakes, floods and tsunamis has also been aided by the Hunger Jar. Offerings are collected in the jars during services and at the regular offering time.
Food Bank Donations
Donations go into our wooden bin and are delivered to a local food pantry.
Needed are: hygiene items, diapers, cans of meat, fruits, vegetables, sauces and boxes of crackers.
