Our New Worship Center

Spirit of Hope Lutheran Church endeavors to be a living presence of God in the
East Valley. Our emphasis is to reach out to all individuals, without regard to earlier religious experience. We seek to be a community church that responds to the needs of the people who live in the community.

As a mainline church of the Evangelical Church in America, we are encouraged to study the Bible and discuss issues with other Christians in accordance with the Biblical teachings and to form our own conclusions regarding social and religious issues. Feel free to become involved and ask questions. There's no need to check your brains at the door!

Historically, Lutherans are a church with a rich heritage. Our confessions of faith have immediate roots in the Protestant Reformation begun by Martin Luther in the 16th century. Our origin reaches back to the teachings and faith of the first Apostles.

As Lutherans we:

Believe the Bible to be the inspired word of God.

Regard the Bible as the authoritative source for all we believe and teach.

Trust in Jesus as our saving Lord.

Accept the ancient faith statements of the Christian church, including the Apostles Creed, Nicene Creed, and the Athenasian Creed.

Believe that our broken relationship with God has been healed by the death and resurrection of Jesus, the Son of God.

Believe a person is justified (saved), not through merit, but only by God's grace through faith.

Believe the gracious gift of forgiveness comes from God through  our faith in Jesus Christ.

So, now you want to join us in membership?

Does this sound like something you would like to do?  Please come and join us!

Spirit of Hope receives new members approximately four times during the year. We ask that you participate in three events through this process.

Currently all events have been held on Sunday morning from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with a light lunch being served to the participates.   These two classes cover information about Spirit of Hope, it's history, it's vision, and it's a great way to get to know each other.  We ask participates to fill out "time & talent" sheets and invite members of the Ministry Teams to share the current ministries of the congregation.

Children are, of course, welcome and if needed, child care will be provided.

We have two levels of membership – full and associate. A full member belongs only to Spirit of Hope with all voting rights, membership privileges and obligations. Associate members also have a “home congregation” where they live for part of the year and have their full membership there. Associate members cannot hold an office or serve on the church council of Spirit of Hope.

A few questions first?

How do we do church, in general?

We take God really seriously; ourselves, not so much.

I have not been a member of a church before. Can I still join?

Yes, we welcome you to join us in
the body of Christ.   After meeting with one of the pastors and some instruction, we will encourage you to be baptized.  You will have the opportunity to attend adult’s classes on Sunday morning and weekly Bible Studies to deepen your understanding and faith.

Do I have to give my life savings?

In a word, no. Offerings are given as an act of worship and a response to faith for those people who consider Spirit of Hope to be their home. We give to God because he has given so much to us.

How do I get my kids involved?

Children are always welcome and valued in worship. During the school year, Sunday School classes are available for 4  year olds through 6th grade. Youth group is for grades 7-12 and meets every Wednesday night at

Do I have to come every week?

Of course, we look forward to seeing you every week but do realize that busy lives sometimes prevent this. No, we don’t take attendance.

How long is the service?

Generally, our services each run about an hour.

Can I take communion?

All baptized and believing Christians who trust that the risen Lord Jesus is present in the bread and wine and who commune in other Christian churches are welcome to participate in the sacrament with us. Children who do not commune may come forward for a blessing.

What if my kids get noisy during the service?

There is a cry room located at the back of the sanctuary that is supplied with sound available during worship.

Do I have to wear a tie or dress?

Suits, dresses, shorts, jeans, sandals – we think it’s more important that you come to worship than how you are dressed.
