Looking for Hope

The Source of Hope

Christ has called us at Spirit of Hope Lutheran Church to share the hope that we have as Christians.  We worship, pray, sing and reach out to others.   Recently a stranger walked into church and said to Pastor Sondra, “I saw your sign “Spirit of Hope” and I am a person without hope!”  This stranger was received, listened to and encouraged.   The church is a place where people should see hopefulness and be encouraged to look forward to tomorrow.

The Hope is an 80 minute dramatic presentation of God’s epic story of redemption as revealed in the Bible. You can watch the video in its entirety, or you can view the introduction, 12 chapters and the conclusion at your own pace.

A Story of Hope

Pastor Glen is a story teller.  Have you ever heard him tell the story of the beginnings of Spirit of Hope?  It is a story that demonstrates God’s glorious plans and confirms that He will not let you down in spite of difficulties along the way.  What upheld Pastor Glen during the challenges of starting a mission congregation was the hope he received from a handful of faithful people.   What is your story of hope?

Please read Luke 24:3 - 34.

Songs of Hope

Music can often reach the mind and the heart even when words fail.  It can touch the spirit and revitalize faith.  Music can provide rich moments of sharing for the family and the church body.    Join our church choir or simply sing meaningful hymns at Spirit of Hope surrounded by voices of the faithful.  Listen to these beautiful hymns.

My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness

Promises of Hope

We don’t know what the future holds for us?  We know there are times in life when we feel lost, alone and disconsolate.  Experience the promise of hope and receive the assurance of God’s forgiveness through Jesus Christ.  Take some time to join us at Spirit of Hope and learn the way of salvation and peace.

There is hope in the midst of loneliness!

Try attending our Women’s Bible Study, Men’s Group, Cursillo or coffee fellowship between services.

Deut 31:8 -- Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord is the one who goes before you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor forsake you.”

There is hope in the midst of feeling unloved!

Through Holy Communion we receive the forgiveness of sins and are reassured that God loves us. In Baptism God comes to us through water and the word and makes us His own.

John 3:16 – For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

Rom 8:31-39   -- … If God is for us, who can ever be against us?  Since God did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won't God, who gave us Christ, also give us everything else?

Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? Will God? No! He is the one who has given us right standing with himself.  Who then will condemn us? Will Christ Jesus? No, for he is the one who died for us and was raised to life for us and is sitting at the place of highest honor next to God, pleading for us.

Can anything ever separate us from Christ's love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or are hungry or cold or in danger or threatened with death?  (Even the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”)  No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can't, and life can't. The angels can't, and the demons can't. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can't keep God's love away.  Whether we are high above the sky or in the deepest ocean, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

There is hope in the midst of disillusionment, inadequacy and weakness!

We are part of the body of Christ and we do not walk alone.  In our AA meetings, people look for strength in the midst of pain.  We offer a grief support group which is open to all.

1 Peter 2:6b -- and anyone who believes in him will never be disappointed.

Phil. 4:13 -- For I can do everything with the help of Christ who gives me the strength I need.

2 Cor. 12:9 -- The Lord said: “My gracious favor is all you need. My power works best in your weakness.”

There is hope in the midst of anxiety.

There is healing for all who struggle with any number of issues.

1 Pet. 5:7 -- Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about what happens to you.

Matt 6:25-34 -- “So I tell you, don't worry about everyday life--whether you have enough food, drink, and clothes. Doesn't life consist of more than food and clothing?  Look at the birds. They don't need to plant or harvest or put food in barns because your heavenly Father feeds them.  And you are far more valuable to him than they are.  Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? Of course not.

“And why worry about your clothes? Look at the lilies and how they grow. They don't work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and gone tomorrow, won't he more surely care for you? You have so little faith!

“So don't worry about having enough food or drink or clothing.  Why be like the pagans who are so deeply concerned about these things? Your heavenly Father already knows all your needs, and he will give you all you need from day to day if you live for him and make the Kingdom of God your primary concern.

“So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today.
